PS WAGUNDA HOSTS KBC LEADERSHIP TO ADVANCE PUBLIC ASSET OPTIMIZATION AND SERVICE DELIVERY
The Principal Secretary for Public Investments and Assets Management, Mr. Cyrell Wagunda, today held a consultative meeting with the leadership of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), led by Board Chairperson Mr. Tom Mshindi and CEO Ms. Agnes Kalekye.
The engagement focused on the State Department’s core mandate of overseeing Government-Owned Enterprises to ensure optimal utilization of public investments and assets, enhanced financial sustainability, and improved service delivery in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Discussions centered on repositioning KBC as a commercially viable and self-sustaining state corporation through strengthened asset management, financial restructuring, and innovative revenue generation strategies. The meeting also explored modernization of KBC’s broadcasting infrastructure, programming, and brand to enhance competitiveness within the evolving media landscape.
The PS underscored the strategic importance of KBC in advancing the public communications agenda, noting that a revitalized national broadcaster plays a critical role in promoting equitable access to information as enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. Strengthened collaboration between SDPIAM and KBC is expected to enhance timely dissemination of government information, foster transparency, and deepen citizen engagement.
By aligning institutional reforms with BETA priorities, the partnership aims to unlock the full potential of public media assets while ensuring efficient delivery of credible, accessible, and impactful information services to all Kenyan.
